Paying Adolescents for Health Screenings Works

With regard to their future health, adolescents are at a critical stage. Previous evaluations have shown that health screenings, counseling and other intervention programs during this phase of life important, in particular for those with low socio economic background. Unfortunately, tend little interest preventive programs. We designed field-experiment evaluate the effectiveness financial incentives promote participation screenings. Our study comprises more than 10;000 participants, who we observe high quality administrative data from Austria. The treatment group received e40 shopping voucher if they participated an age-specific screening. On average incentive increased likelihood by 280 %. Treatment effects comparably larger children families higher socio-economic status, parents revealed preference secondary prevention.
